Boxing Combination Hagler Style!

Long Range Pummelling – Marvin Hagler Style!

A four punch boxing combination here, one that I saw Marvelous Marvin Hagler use during his 1986 bout with John Mugabi.  Marvin used it in the southpaw style, but it’s equally as eye-catching and no less effective when performed from an orthodox stance.  A little tip here, be ready to press on the attack after landing this combination.  Any opponent who gets caught flush with this is not going to want to advance toward you with any alacrity!  If anything, your opponent will likely want to retreat…quickly!  Get ready to systematically hunt down and destroy your quarry, don’t stand back to admire your work!!!

OK, onto the combination:

  1. Jab
  2. Right Uppercut at long range
  3. Jab
  4. Right Hook at long range.

A real 4-shot special!  The jabs open the opponent up, whilst the uppercut and hook take advantage of the opening by whipping both under and around the guard.  Enjoy this one, it’s a really effective long range boxing combination that would make Marvelous Marvin Hagler very proud indeed!  Check out the article on boxing combinations to get more of an understanding of the technical theory behind building effective combinations.  In the meantime, leave a question or comment below.

Cheers

I consider myself an outside boxer, so I’ll definitely use this combination during my next sparring session! Thanks Fran!
