An Introduction to 90 Second Boxing Tips

90 Second Boxing Tips are a new series of boxing coaching videos that I have created. In each 90 Second Boxing Tip video I will focus on a single skill, tactic or topic. Within each video I will provide some clear, precise and effective advice that you can put into action immediately.

So how did I come up with the idea of the 90 Second Boxing Tip? Well, not only is it aimed at keeping it short so that you can watch the video in less than a round of boxing, it is actually based upon practical experience.

When there is a full team of boxers working in the gym, I often walk around and as boxers are shadow boxing, using the heavy bag or performing drills I may spend 90 seconds or so talking them through a skill or topic.

This is a fact of life for any coach in many boxing clubs all around the World – it’s great to get some good one-on-one time working with a boxer, but it’s just as important to share the time to ensure the continued development of all – that 90 seconds can be incredibly effective.

There’s lots of videos planned, so keep on watching 🙂

Here’s your first main video: The 5 States of Range in Boxing.

Any suggestions or tips for topics, let me know and I’ll schedule them in

Cheers

Fran

Great idea Fran. And if I can suggest a topic for a video then it would be something on the Double-End Bag. Thanks. Tam.

    Hi Fran

Its really nice to get another video. Can’t believe you pack so much knowledge into such a short period of time. I think these are an excellent idea for coaches like myself – I am truly grateful.

A suggest short video – dealing with a southpaw.

    Thanks Once again

    Pete

I was wondering when we were going to hear from you again Fran. Your ears must have been burning. Nice clip. I would like to see more like it. Short and to the point. I particularly liked the way you demonstrated gauging the distance of a mid-range punch. The complimentary link/article with videos on Tommy Hearns, Marvin Hagler and Floyd Mayweather Jr. really drives home the point. No question Floyd is ‘has it all’. People forget the tough competition he faced on the way up. He just got better and better. Like the late jazz legend and boxing aficionado Miles Davis said, Boxing is like Jazz. The better it gets the less people appreciate it”.

      Hey Ric

Yes there is method to that mid-range gauge thing when it comes to hooking, will cover that in a follow up vide. Thanks for the support, always very encouraging from boxing man who knows his stuff. And yes, Mayweather Jr does get a bad press – to me he has answered every question that ‘the ring’ has asked of him. Love the Miles Davis quote, that’s in the memory bank now!!! Thanks mate.
