5 Boxing Combos You Need to Try Now (Heavy Bag Special)

Aim to build power, rhythm and flow in everything you do.

This is especially true of boxing combinations.

This video gives you 5 boxing combo drills and 5 rounds of heavy bang work that will give you a sharp workout.

The Boxing Combos

Here are the 5 boxing combos that we use:

  1. Jab and right cross
  2. Double jab and right cross
  3. Jab – slip – left hook – right hook
  4. Right uppercut – left hook head – left hook body – left hook head
  5. Jab – cross – left hook – double jab – right hook

Tips for Your Heavy Bag Workout

The heavy bag workout is 5 rounds of 1 minute each with 15 second rest periods.

Each round is dedicated to a single combination.

Some tips…

  • Try to maintain the technical precision of each punch in the combination. This will ensure that each combination is as good as it can be
  • Be sure to get your breathing right. Short round with high work rate are tough, so maximising your oxygen intake throughout the round will give you the best chance of maintaining solid work rate
  • Big deep breaths in between rounds. In through the nose, out through the mouth.

Let me know what you think in the comments section.

Cheers

Sir I loved it. I have done it twice and it is a marvelous training exercise.
I think my favorite is the last round. Thank you so much for this training exercise. I do one thing different. I spin my jab. 1,1,2 I try to keep my jab in his face for another split second and then lower the boom. This is a keeper training exercise. Yours in martial Arts. Owen. Have a Happy Holiday Season, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

      Thanks Owen

Very glad you are enjoying the workout. Yes, that’s a smart variation. I like the fact that you are making the heavy bag a live opponent – sing of experience.

Same to you and your family for Christmas and the New Year.

Great stuff! I always look forward to the random email videos you send out. I like you and I really like your product. I’m working through the Smokin’ Joe edition at the moment(my all time favorite boxer); I’ll sit that aside just for a moment to work on these sweet combos!

Thanks Cody, great that, gives me a lift. Really glad you enjoy the work and hope that you get everything you want out of the Smoking’ Joe stuff 👌

I am going to try this tomorrow! My boxing coach had to step away for awhile, so I’m training by myself. I’ve been working on everything my coach has taught me thus far, but without him coaching me right now, I am missing all of the new drills he likes to throw at me. This video gives me something new to try! Fantastic!

Go for it Michelle. As you’re doing the work, just remember the punch technique your coach has no doubt instilled in you. Maintaining technical discipline as you tire is one of the signs of a capable fighter 🥊
