Boxing Footwork – Counter Punching Pac Style!

There is a common boxing footwork skill that is the basis of a solid counter punching style. It’s called a phased attack, but there are lots of variations of this. The one I demonstrate in this boxing footwork video has been used commonly by Filipino Great Manny Pacquiao.

You see it’s a really effective counter punching boxing footwork skill for a southpaw against an orthodox, or indeed for an orthodox against a southpaw.

Counter Punching Pac Style

Pacquiao is a master at this type of counter punching. His speed and precision in execution is amazing. So if you want a phased attack boxing footwork skill that is a little different, then this is for you.

Conventionally you can use a jab, push out (to avoid a shot coming your way), then push back in and deliver your counter punch.

You can also use a side step instead of pushing out, these is an equally elegant boxing footwork skill to get a similar result.

Instead though, we will use a subtle diagonal movement. This gives the will mean that any power back hand from an opposing boxing stance will fall marginally short. You can then shift back in to deliver your counter punch.

Simple, clean and effective. A boxing footwork skill that powers a super-effective counter punching style effective against any boxing stance, but especially an opposing boxing stance.
