Boxing Techniques – The Mike Tyson Special

If you want to learn some cool boxing techniques, then I can think of worse people to cover than Mike Tyson!

Mike Tyson’s peek-a-boo style was defensively driven, enabling the shorter Tyson to compete with taller boxers at long range, using slips and rolls and explosive footwork to get to mid and close range and deliver machine gun combinations.

Boxing Techniques – The Mike Tyson Special!

In respect of the key boxing techniques used in the Mike Tyson style:

1. Triggered the opponent…LOTS!

2. Extensive use of the stance switch, squared stance and angled side step at mid to close range.

3. Used the concept of ‘punches in bunches’.

In the video I call out 2 videos that include other key boxing techniques that Tyson used:

Boxing Techniques – Go Square for Power
Boxing Techniques (Advanced) – The Stance Switch

So there you have it, a range of boxing techniques that I think were key in the super effective Mike Tyson style.

As always I would love to hear your thoughts so post them below.

Cheers
